Growth and Innovation, the Winning Combination Uniting Madama Oliva and MISA

Madama Oliva, an international leader in the table olives, lupins and plant-based products sector, continues its growth journey and relies on MISA for the design and construction of new cold rooms at its industrial site in Carsoli (AQ). A collaboration spanning more than ten years, reflecting a shared vision: ensuring the highest levels of product quality and safety throughout the entire production chain.

The Abruzzo-based company, present in over 40 countries and Italy’s leading exporter of table olives to the United States and Japan, reported a turnover of €53.3 million in 2024, representing a 14% increase compared to the previous year. As of January 1, 2025, Madama Oliva has further strengthened its commitment to sustainability by becoming a Benefit Corporation.

TECHNOLOGY AND SUSTAINABILITY AT THE HEART OF THE PROJECT

The solution proposed by MISA ensures a temperature-controlled storage system designed down to the smallest detail, from airflow distribution and space accessibility to lighting systems. The goal is to create a reliable, modular ecosystem capable of evolving in a scalable way alongside the customer’s business.

A key element of the solution is the CO₂ natural refrigerant refrigeration system, featuring a very low environmental impact with a GWP of 1 and capable of delivering over 400 kW of cooling capacity. This technology is complemented by innovative solutions such as Refreex remote units, which allow up to 80% less refrigerant gas usage compared to traditional systems and include advanced, fast and efficient defrosting functions.

The system is completed by BS1D0 fire reaction class isothermal panels, designed to limit flame propagation in the event of a fire. Made with PIR foam and certified up to REI 60 for thicknesses of 200 mm, these panels are particularly suitable for high-intensity production environments.

“Our partnership with MISA is built on trust in their ability to deliver cutting-edge solutions, perfectly tailored to our specific needs and aligned with the highest quality standards,” says Antonio Mancini, Managing Director and CEO of Madama Oliva. He concludes, “It is precisely this focus on customization, combined with constant and reliable pre- and post-sales technical support, that drives us to rely on MISA to support every phase of our company’s growth.”

“Collaborating for many years with Madama Oliva, to our mutual satisfaction, means that MISA places all its expertise in refrigeration solution design fully at the customer’s disposal,” says Marco Crosta, Industrial Sales Manager at MISA. He adds, “We have always delivered products of excellence, developed according to strict food safety and operational safety standards. Our solutions for the food industry are specifically designed to create a highly selective offering, built to last over time even in particularly demanding environments, backed by the guarantee of a historic brand such as MISA. The high quality of our products represents added value in preservation processes within an increasingly sustainable supply chain, bringing Italian excellence to tables around the world.”
